LivingSocial, the D.C.-based daily deals site, says more than 50 million customer accounts may have been compromised by a cyberattack.

Customers' names, email addresses, dates of birth and encrypted passwords stored on the company's servers may have been accessed, a company spokesman confirmed in an email to NBCWashington.

The first news of the hacking was reported by All Things Digital.

Credit card information was not accessed or affected, according to the company. Nor was merchants' financial or banking information.

LivingSocial suggests all customers change their passwords on their accounts. The company is in the process of emailing the customers who were affected to help them reset their passwords.

They are also working with law enforcement to investigate the breach.

"The security of our customer and merchant information is our priority," said LivingSocial CEO Tim O'Shaughnessy in the email to customers. "We always strive to ensure the security of our customer information, and we are redoubling efforts to prevent any issues in the future."

Here is the email that LivingSocial is sending to affected customers:

New Bridge to Ease Traffic, Spark Development

A major part of the historic, 165-year-old Edwards Ranch in Fort Worth is about to change forever.

The changes have been in the works for decades but can finally happen after a major bridge project opened on Friday.

The Clearfork Main Street bridge connects Hulen Street and Bryant Irvin Road, making it a major arterial street in the heart of the city.

City officials cut the ribbon at a ceremony on Friday morning, and traffic was allowed over by early afternoon.

"It gives us another way to get between Bryant Irvin Road and Hulen, instead of just Vickery or I-30 right now, and you know what that's like," City Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem Zim Zimmerman .

The bridge is actually a twin set of spans that cross the Trinity River with a pedestrian bridge below.

"As you come across the Hulen bridge, this will be a major asset," Mayor Betsy Price said.

More importantly the bridge, coupled with the nearby Chisholm Trail Parkway, means development of the Clearfork section of Edwards Ranch can get started.

"This truly was the main piece that we needed to begin development, because it's really the first connection into the property," said Paxton Motheral, Cassco Development Co. vice president.

Cassco, owned by the Edwards family, plans on developing 270 acres of property, mostly south of the new toll road. The project will feature apartments, townhomes, retail and green space.

Infrastructure work on the project has been underway for the last seven years with help from the city but, in September, the first phase will begin. Construction on a 50-acre portion of the site should be completed by the end of 2014.

The project is one of many in the city's core, as development is just as important inside Loop 820 as it is outside.

"You never want a city to die from within. You never want all the development to be on the edges; you certainly want to keep your core city vibrant and strong," Price said.

"There's a lot of land yet to be developed inside the loop, and we're starting to try and focus on that before we really try to jump to the outskirts," Zimmerman said.

So while the bridge leads to very little right now, that won't always be the case.

"We want the city of Fort Worth to be proud of what's happening out here on the property," Motheral said.

The first residential phase will feature 398 units of townhomes, contemporary lofts and upscale apartments. The pedestrian bridge is set to open later this spring.

Family Wants Charges in Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting

The family of a man who was shot and killed by Dallas police officer is asking the department to take another look at the case.

Clinton Allen, 25, was killed March 10 during a disturbance call at an apartment complex in the 3300 block of Southern Oaks Boulevard.

"I am outraged that this policeman that has no respect for human life is back on the streets of Dallas with a gun again, and you should be outraged," said Allen's mother, Collette Flannagan.

She and the group Justice Seekers Texas say the police account of the shooting does not match up with the autopsy and toxicology reports.

They said that police initially said Allen was high on drugs. The toxicology report shows that the PCP and marijuana in his system was likely smoked two or three days before the shooting, Justice Seekers Texas said.

"Everybody was under the assumption that this was one of those cases where one of these young men were on drugs and they attacked a police officer but, from the information that we have and the witnesses, that is not true. That is a lie," said the Rev. Ronald Wright, director of Justice Seekers Texas.

Police said Allen was knocking on the door of a female resident and threatening her. He also sent her numerous text messages threatening to kick in her door, investigators said.

Officer Clark Staller responded after the woman, who knew Allen through mutual friends, called 911.

Police said Staller pulled his weapon and shouted at Allen to show his hands after he saw the man jump over a fence. Staller put his gun away and pulled out his stun gun when Allen complied, but Allen grabbed Staller collar, police said.

Staller shocked Allen twice during the ensuing scuffle, but the officer said it had no effect, police said. Staller said Allen began choking him and, in fear of his life, he pulled out his gun and fired, according to Dallas police.

The autopsy report shows that Allen was shot seven times four times in the chest, once in the abdomen, once in the arm and once in the back, his family said.

"Executed like a rabid animal. Who does that to another human being?" Flannagan said. "You can't even shoot an animal seven times and not go to jail."

His family said Allen was the father of twins younger than 2 years old.

Wright said Justice Seekers Texas has new witness affidavits from people who were in the area at the time of the shooting. He said he has forwarded the affidavits and the toxicology and autopsy reports to police department's internal investigations unit.

Wright said the group's next move would be to try to schedule a meeting with the district attorney in the hopes of getting the case in front of a grand jury.

"It was a grievous murder, and it's unfortunate this family has to go through this," he said.
Dallas police said the shooting is under investigation. When the investigation is concluded, the case will be forwarded to the district attorney's office for presentation to a grand jury.

Staller, who has been with the Dallas Police Department for nearly five years, has returned to his regular duties.

Dallas police arrested a woman early Friday after Texas Department of Transportation cameras show she was driving the wrong way on U.S. Highway 75.

The incident happened shortly before 4 a.m. Officers managed to pull over and arrest Tiffany Amber Summitt, 33, charging her with DWI.

Video from TxDOT traffic cameras shows a vehicle heading south in the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 75 in the area of the High Five interchange at Interstate 635 in north Dallas.

In 2011, the most recent year for which there is data available, there were 3,088 wrong way crashes on Texas roads, according to the TxDOT. Those crashes resulted in 213 deaths.

According to a 2004 study from the Texas Transportation Institute and Texas A & M University, wrong way crashes are most likely to happen between midnight and six a.m., With the most frequent time period being from 2 - 3 a.m.

Wrong-way crashes most commonly occur in the left lane of the highway, according to the study, because the driver at fault believes they are in the right lane.  And more than half of the wrong way drivers had some influence of alcohol or drugs cited by the investigating officer, according to the study.

A commander who oversaw the school that employed three Marines killed in a murder-suicide in Virginia has been relieved of his job, the Marine Corps Times reported.

Col. Kris J. Stillings will no longer lead the Officer Candidates School (OCS) at the Quantico Base, due to the deaths of Sgt. Eusebio Lopez, Cpl. Jacob Wooley and Lance Cpl. Sara Castromata.

Lopez, 25, shot and killed Wooley and Castromata in March before taking his own life in the barracks. All three were assigned to the OCS.

A general who spoke to the Marine Corps Times about Stillings' dismissal called the decision "painful" but said it came down to a matter of accountability.

Dallas Bridge Vote to Happen This Week

Dallas city leaders vote this week on the latest plan for another signature bridge designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava -- and not all are on board.

Thousands Celebrate Dallas' "Signature" Bridge

About 3,000 people attended Friday night's bridge celebration party, which was headlined by a performance from Lyle Lovett and His Large Band.

Our outgrown, outdated roads and bridges around downtown Dallas are finally going to get a 21st century overhaul.  What's being called the Horseshoe will in 2017 take the place of the dreaded Mix master.

"I can remember as a young man my grandfather referring to it as a marvel of modern engineering and I would think today most people that drive it would refer to it as something much more derogatory," TX DOT Deputy Executive Director John Barton told a gathering of 100-plus people in a tent under the Houston Street Viaduct Saturday morning.

"Let's pause just a moment to recall some of the many thoughtful impressions you've had over the years as you were entering the Mix master interchange," joked State Senator Royce West.  He put his fingers on his forehead and paused for a couple of seconds and said, "No, those are bad thoughts, okay."

While major work is about to start only 30 percent of the project is designed... That's by design.  What's known as design-build is going to save time and money.

"Crews can start construction in one area while design's being completed in another.," explains TX DOT Commissioner Jeff Austin III.  "Now that's a little different than what's been done in the past but it makes sense."

To pay for the Horseshoe, $500-million comes from the federal government.  The other $298-million from state and local governments.  Local leaders say they're sure it's going to be worth it.

"This project is not only going to connect I-30 to I-35 so whenever you want to do that you don't have to go through Riverfront to connect, it's also going to help with the congestion," says Dallas County Commissioner Elba Garcia.

"It's going to create a new front door for Oak Cliff and all of southern Dallas County for travelers coming from the east," adds Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins.

Deadly Shootout in Kaufman County Leaves One Dead

The small community of Frog is left stunned after a local man got into a shootout with deputies and troopers where he died.

A man was shot and killed Saturday morning in an exchange of gunfire with state troopers and Kaufman County Sheriff's Deputies. It happened around 10:30 a.m. on County Road 316A in the community of Frog, which is eight miles east of Terrell.

According to the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a man with a gun, firing the weapon and threatening citizens on County Road 316.

DPS Trooper Kyle Bradford says the deceased suspect is Gabriel Winzer, 25, of Frog. Neighbors say he went by Gabe.

Trooper Bradford says sheriff's deputies arrived first and Winzer fired at them. Bradford says deputies and troopers did not return fire at that time.

A chase began and officers pursued Winzer to his home on County Road 316A, that's where Bradford says he fired at officers a second time. Troopers and deputies returned fire hitting Winzer.

While officers tried to take Winzer into custody his father had to be tased, according to DPS. The younger Winzer died a short time later at the scene as he was shot before officers could try to place him into custody.

Residents of the small community all say they know Winzer and they're all shocked by what happened Saturday morning, not understanding why he would have acted like he did.

"Very shocking, it's out of his character for this to go on," said Helen Peterson, a 25 year resident of Frog. "Like I say, I don't know what caused it or why, it's very hard to understand."

Another neighbor told NBC 5 that Winzer had recently helped install cabinets in their home. They too were shocked at what transpired.

"It's something that's just hard to understand," Peterson said. "I know there's going to be lot of talking, sepculation. Instead of talking, pray for the family."

Peterson said she heard police cars fly into her quiet neighborhood, where loud music might be the only thing she has to deal with from time to time. A short time later she said she heard a single shot.

"It was just rapid gunfire after that," Peterson said. "I don't know who fired first or whatever, I just know it was rapid gunfire after."

A crime scene was taped off along County Road 316 as you enter Frog from Highway 80. Another crime scene, where the shootout took place is on County Road 316 A.

DPS Trooper Bradford says that two officers did suffer superficial injuries. They weren't injured in the exchange of gunfire but rather trying to take Winzer or his father into custody. Both officers are fine, one suffered a minor hand injury.

The Texas Rangers are leading the investigation into the shooting.

West Residents Return to Zone 2

West residents in Zone 2 were allowed to return home Tuesday, and some residents found their homes were beyond repair.

West Residents Slowly Allowed to Return Home

Officials told residents of West they would be allowed to return home in phases beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday and a curfew would be in effect.

More Photos and Videos

Residents who live closest to the plant returned home for the first time Saturday since the April 17 explosion that killed 15 people and injured 200.

Throughout the day, residents streamed into zone three to search and salvage belongings scattered among the piles of debris.

On the edge of zone three, family and friends of the Webre's rallied a search party for Bentley, a Maltese who vanished in the explosion's aftermath.

"Well he's always in the living in his little bed and all the windows got blown off so we assume he got out somewhere," Stacy Webre, the dog's owner said.

Webre's house is marked with neon orange, deeming it uninhabitable. The color is all too familiar for those in zone three because the city says that 70 houses in the zone will have to be demolished.

As residents spent the day assessing damage, first responders were recognized for their efforts.

Fire departments from the neighboring cities of Bellmead and Woodway unfurled an American flag for a procession that honored law enforcement, firefighters and other first responders.

"We have all came together to show what we can do for this community for one and also to show our respects for our fallen brothers," William Hlavenka Jr. Bellmead's fire chief said.

A Homestead man was struck and killed by a passing driver after the driver reportedly sneezed and crashed into him, police said.

Victor Aguiar, 56, was pushing a disabled car on the side of Haverhill Road in Lake Worth early Saturday morning, when another car, driven by Shawn Gruber, 27, crashed into him, said a report from the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office.

Aguiar was pushing the disabled car north on Haverhill Road with Oscar Cristo Gomez, 28, while Michael Gomez Rodriguez, 16, helped steer it. The car did not have lights or reflective markers, according to the report.

Gruber told police he sneezed as he was driving, and when he opened his eyes, he saw the disabled car. He swerved to the left, but hit the disabled car from behind, pinning Aguiar and Gomez between the two cars, police said.

Aguiar was pronounced dead on the scene, while Gomez was transported to Delray Medical Center where he remains in critical condition, the report said.
